Get a push 2 or 3 if you are use to hardware workflow because slicing samples is very easy with the push 2 or 3. It’ll make Ableton more efficient and enjoyable if you come from hardware.

Both beats are dope. The bass in that second beat is hitting! Yeah Jazz records are tricky. The timing can be off but when you figure it out 🔥🔥🔥

Very dope. Jazz is hard bc of the swing, but if you can get it right when chopping it's legit. Not talking loops! Chops!

The 2nd record was in 3/4 time signature instead of 99% of music you feature which is 4/4. Maybe that's why you couldn't articulate why you chopped when you did? You're basically following the beat - 3 instead of 4.

It's very rare that i sample jazz. If I do that I do it to have a horn stab over the original sample ore a bass to put to the orginal sample i have been working with.

Yeah jazz samples are hard…start with some fusion jazz if you can, it’ll ease you into the genre. Bob James, Hank Crawford, Herbie Hancock (70s stuff), Return to Forever, Weather Report, Roy Ayers, Soft Machine, all are great to start with.

Can somebody answer these questions? 1) if I sample a bunch of different eight bar loops of songs can I put them all on one key group in the same tempo? And how to do that?

as far as the sampling time limits go, I think that's why the OG killer combo was the SP 1200 teamed up with an Akai S series sampler, do you have one of those?
